It was to be expected, as Nintendo’s silence was deafening. No, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel will not be released this year. The Japanese manufacturer has announced a new release period.
You have to go back to E3 2019 to witness the officialization of this long-awaited sequel. Since that event, Eiji Aonuma and his teams have only revealed one additional trailer released last summer. So the game was supposed to be released this year, but Nintendo had not said anything until now…
In the video above, Aonuma apologizes to gamers by stating that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel will not be released in 2022. Now, Nintendo is planning a launch in the spring of 2023, which is about a year away. The reason for the delay is that the developers simply need more time to polish their work.
Unfortunately, the video in question compiles almost only clips from the second trailer. Aonuma reminds us that the adventure will not only take place on the lands of Hyrule but also in the skies. He also promises new encounters and new gameplay mechanics. See you in 2023.
