A few years after the failure of One Piece World Seeker, “the most ambitious game of the franchise” to date, Bandai Namco is back with a brand new proposal.
During a Livestream celebrating the 25th anniversary of the famous manga, the Japanese publisher revealed One Piece Odyssey, a new RPG in the universe of the work of Eiichiro Oda.
Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat crew are coming to next-gen consoles. To celebrate the anniversary of the manga with 500 million copies sold worldwide, Bandai Namco has revealed its next adaptation: One Piece Odyssey. A name that is not foreign to those who assiduously follow the news since the Japanese company had registered the trademark in June 2021.
We don’t have many details about this One Piece RPG. We know that it has been in development for at least three years within the Ilca studio and that Eiichiro Oda himself is in charge of the story and the design of the characters and monsters that will come to animate this world, which we assume to be semi-open. As for the gameplay, we’ll have to wait before knowing more. However, it has been confirmed that the whole crew will be playable and that there will be dungeons and side quests. One Piece Odyssey will be available on PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, and PC via Steam in 2022.
