Tunic gets surprise Xbox Game Pass release on launch day

It’s the good indie surprise of this beginning of the year. After many years of development, first alone and then with a few helpers, Andrew Shouldice has finally released his baby: Tunic.

A production available since March 16, 2022 on PC, Xbox Series X and Xbox One, which created a double surprise. The game is available on the Xbox Game Pass and it has completely conquered the press.

Last minute surprise for the PC and Xbox Game Pass. Just when we thought Microsoft had revealed the entire March schedule for its subscription service, a little independent nugget is added to the service: Tunic. Behind its Zelda-like look and cute face, it’s actually a more demanding game than it seems, with inspirations taken directly from FromSoftware games. Add to that the gripping mysteries and you get the latest favorite of the press.

Gamekult praises the surprising side of Tunic and its twisted puzzles with a nice 8/10. The same is true for IGN, which also underlines its charming old-school side hiding a real challenge, while Gamespot was seduced by “its fantastic sense of exploration”. Tunic gets a 9 from both American media. The feedback echoes the rest of the world’s publications and allows Tunic to become the sixth highest rated game of the year on Open Critic with a score of 86 and the sixth best PC release of 2022 on MetaCritic (87/100).
