It is the dream of many fans that has just been realized by a modder. Indeed, a smart modder managed to make a pocket GameCube compatible with the entire catalog of the console.
A long time ago, the Internet was abuzz with excitement at the sight of a “stolen” visual representing a supposedly mobile version of the GameCube. Unfortunately, Nintendo quickly dashed the hopes of its community, as the manufacturer never worked on such a machine. It was simply a fake for a console that will never see the light of day… Well, almost!
It is on Twitter that the modder GingerofMods presented his real version of the GameCube portable. Made from a Wii (which was backwards compatible), it is able to play all the games released on the fourth home console by Nintendo. We can see a short clip of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Mario Kart: Double Dash or Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Y'know that fake GameCube portable that has floated around the internet for 15 years? Well, I got tired of it being fake. It's real now. pic.twitter.com/Ihox29CoP0— GingerOfOz (@GingerOfMods) March 12, 2022
The whole manufacturing process is shown in the video below. Unfortunately, it is useless to say that this portable GameCube will never be commercialized. It is simply a project carried out by a very talented fan.
