Just a few minutes after the State of Play was broadcast, the Japanese firm published a statement on social networks to give an update on its activities in Russia. In recent days, many studios, publishers and manufacturers have taken sanctions against the country led by Vladimir Putin but Sony had remained surprisingly silent. All we knew was that the launch of Gran Turismo 7 had been cancelled at the last moment.

Thus, we learn today that Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) immediately stops its shipments of games and consoles to Russia. PlayStation Store operations are also suspended until further notice. Users can no longer use the online store to purchase games, DLC or any other type of content. In addition, the Japanese multinational will make a donation of $2 million to help the victims of the war.

It must be admitted that Western companies have no real interest in maintaining their activities in Russia since Visa, Mastercard and American Express payment methods are now inoperative in the country.
