Bungie’s next game won’t be an FPS like Destiny 2

It was one of the key announcements of the beginning of the year: the purchase of Bungie by PlayStation for a sum of about 3.6 billion dollars. Towards a third-person game for Bungie’s next license?

While Destiny 2 is still going strong, and recently got a new DLC called “The Witch Queen“, the first job offers for a mysterious project from Bungie have started to appear on the web.

Obviously, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt, as it does not suggest anything official. But through these job offers recently published by Bungie, we discover that the direction that the future production of the studio would take would mark a certain turning point in its history.

Indeed, after twenty years of working with the FPS genre, the studio is looking for a creative director, who would then be in charge of a third-person action game project. It doesn’t stop there, as it’s also mentioned that a special focus will be put on the characters, suggesting that story and narration could play a central role in this as yet unannounced title. While we don’t yet know the nature of this project, and there’s no confirmation that it will actually see the light of day, this choice would materialize a change that is far from insignificant for the studio.

In any case, it’s worth remembering that despite the acquisition of Bungie by Sony, the American company has assured us that it will keep its creative freedom and that its future productions will not be exclusive to PlayStation platforms.
