As a true professional in remastering and other ports, Capcom had to seize the opportunity to re-release its old Resident Evil games on the latest consoles from Sony and Microsoft.
After a rather conventional Resident Evil Village and while waiting for a hypothetical remake of the legendary fourth opus of the saga, Capcom is going to give us three of the best episodes launched these last years. The survival-horror series managed to reinvent itself by opting for reinterpretations of its classics while offering new games with a first-person view.
Thus, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil VII will be released this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Capcom promises visual improvements without detailing their nature. Three captures were also shared by the Japanese company via the tweet below. It is difficult to appreciate this optimization via simple screenshots.

Those who currently own these games on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be eligible for a digital upgrade at no additional cost. pic.twitter.com/MNPZcZBl7i
Fortunately, there is good news as owners of these games on PS4 and/or Xbox One will be able to download the upgrade for free. PC gamers will also receive these patches at no additional cost. No specific release date has been given by Capcom.
