Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Confirmed As Open-World Games

One month after the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Nintendo has already announced the next games of the saga: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Two new productions were revealed with a first trailer where we can see the three starters of this 9th generation, some Pokémon present in the games but also their world.

At first sight, they will borrow a lot from Arceus, including its open-world which will be without compromise this time.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was a real turning point for the license. Game Freak’s latest production marked the first steps of the Pokémon franchise into the open world, and it was likely just the beginning. Alongside the announcement of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, Nintendo has released the official website for the new game duo, which the Japanese publisher describes as “anyone from children to adults“.

Big N insists above all on the fact that it will be a fully-fledged open world, without any division between the main zones. In other words, it will be possible to venture seamlessly into the wilderness and cities of the region, visibly inspired by Spain. Players will also be able to capture Pokémon scattered throughout the environments, which will evolve on the ground, in the air or in the water, as well as in the streets of cities. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be released in late 2022 on Switch.
